Rock Hill Native & Pastor Survives Heart Attack, Spreads Awareness During Heart Month
Feb 26, 2025"Listen to your body. And change your lifestyle, because you want to be here as long as you can with your family.”- Jerry DeVinney
Rock Hill native and pastor, Jerry DeVinney can be found at Piedmont Medical Center every week visiting patients. In August 2024, he never thought he would need help from the medical staff he sees on a weekly basis.
He thought the shoulder pain he was experiencing was from a previous injury. The pain increased and he went to Piedmont Medical Center where he learned he was having a heart attack.
He was seen by Cardiologist, Dr. Malasana and Piedmont's heart team.
Six months later, Pastor DeVinney is doing well, eating better, enjoying rehab, and working to reduce stress.
He shared his story with WBTV News in hopes to help raise awareness about heart disease and the importance of listening to your body.
